Free Training Courses
Support from the European Social Fund and Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities means that there are free training opportunities for many people who live in Worcestershire.
Contact the Training Department to find out about current courses on offer and whether you are eligible.
Experienced tutors and small groups ensure that learners receive the support they need to complete their course and sometimes to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
Support with Transport and Childcare Costs
On many of our courses we are able to cover crèche costs for pre-school children or transport costs to enable learners to attend on a regular basis.
Taster Sessions
Tasters include two separate three hour learning sessions which are designed to encourage learners to try something new and different such as cake decorating, first aid, face painting or photography. For some learners attending a Taster Course offers the chance to meet new people and is achievement enough, but for others it is a first step back into learning.
Short Courses
These courses run for one morning a week for four or five weeks only, offering the chance to learn for fun or to acquire a nationally recognised qualification. Courses include Cooking for Fun, Cooking for Christmas, Cooking for Kids and Cake Decorating.
Ten week courses
One morning a week for ten weeks gives learners the chance to take their learning further. Some of these courses lead to a nationally recognised qualification.
Family Learning
There are often exciting opportunities to learn as a family. Past projects include digital photography, music sessions, face painting and recycling play materials.
Contact the Training Department for up to date information.
Gain a nationally recognised qualification
Many of our courses offer learners the opportunity to acquire new skills or build on skills they may already have in a relaxed and informal session.
For other learners it is important to progress and to build on their skills and they may wish to achieve a nationally recognised qualification. Some of our courses are accredited to the Open College Network and learners work with their tutor to build up a folder of what they have achieved throughout the course. On completion of the course learners will receive a certificate from the Open College Network (OCN).
